3 Layers of Plaster

  1. The first layer is the thickest and aims to fill in holes. It has a rough finish. Lime will corrode chicken wire if used here.
  2. The second layer is thinner than the first, it is more refined
  3. The final layer is thinner still and smooth. Lime can be added for a clean finish.

Techniques

A. Throw plaster onto the wall using a trowel.

B. Press and spread as evenly as possible on the wall with a flat trowel.

  • with either technique it is handy to place a board underneath your working area to collect fallen cement. If recombined with a batch quickly it can be reused, minimizing the amount of wasted material
