Need for a classroom or school

  • A community-owned or school-owned building site for the proposed school.
  • The school must have government certification with the guarantee of future governmental support.
  • Project facilitator must see the project through to its completion.
  • If the project facilitator is not a permanent resident of the community, the application must be received 6 months before project facilitator is scheduled to leave the community, if bottles are collected and filled; 8 months prior if bottles are not yet collected.
  • Project facilitator must have a minimum 6 months experience working in the community before project approval.
  • Hug It Forward funds can only cover the costs of materials and skilled labor.
  • The community members must provide all needed non-skilled labor.
  • Project Facilitator must strive to find every additional resource available (local and state government sources, other local bodies, etc.) to bring costs down to enable Hug It Forward to build more schools in other deserving communities.

Community

  • Organize support and community provided non-skilled labor.
  • Collect all the plastic bottles necessary.
  • Community organization.
  • Complete a detailed and researched budget.
  • Manage the materials and project implementation with assistance from Project Facilitator.
  • Provide the necessary supplies through the government to outfit and run a school; desks, chalkboards, electronic equipment, etc.

Project Facilitator

  • Act as the liaison between Hug It Forward and the community.
  • Provide technical assistance, trainings, and workshops on bottle stuffing/collection and school construction.
  • Manage the Hug It Forward project funds meticulously.
  • Report detailed accounting with receipts to Hug It Forward.
  • Document the progress of construction with photos and video if possible.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with Hug It Forward Project Coordinator.

Hug It Forward Project Coordinator

  • Offer technical advice and assistance throughout all stages of project development.
  • Provide the hired masons with blue prints for school construction.
  • Transfer funds to Project Facilitator when needed.
