  1. The community, with assistance from Project Facilitator, will complete and submit the Hug It Forward Bottle School Application. Applications are received and reviewed on a continuous basis.
  2. Bottle collection should begin as soon as possible, ideally even before the application is submitted. This process typically takes 2 to 3 months, depending on the number of bottles needed and the level of community participation. Access the local schools to aid in the collection effort.
  3. Project application will be considered for preliminary approval once the bottles have been collected.
  4. Once the project is preliminarily approved, a Hug It Forward Project Coordinator will visit your community to meet with community leaders, the school district superintendant, prospective project foreman, Project Facilitator, and any other involved parties to discuss specifics and other project details.
  5. After final approval, the Community, Project Facilitator, and Hug It Forward will sign a contract to complete the school. The contract will include a project timeline and detailed responsibilities of all parties involved.
  6. The community and Project Facilitator will then submit a project budget, which will be based on the Hug It Forward approved school design, the project timeline, and a project implementation plan for final approval.
  7. Project Facilitator and community co-leader (committee chair or trusted community leader) will open a bank account in their names designated solely for the HIF Bottle School Project.
  8. Hug It Forward Project Coordinator, in close communication with Project Facilitator, will deposit funds into the account as needed and as spending is reported through receipts.
  9. The community and Project Facilitator will manage the funds and record all purchases in an Excel spreadsheet, keeping a hard copy of all itemized receipts of purchases.
  10. Upon project completion, a project debriefing report detailing progress, successes, challenges, and feedback from masons and community leaders is submitted by the Project Facilitator to Hug It Forward. Excel spreadsheet and hardcopies of all receipts are to be submitted to Hug It Forward.
  11. At least monthly reports, with photos and ideally with video, are to be submitted to Hug It Forward on an ongoing basis this implying that we will fund a project if it meets all of the requirements we list?
  12. Celebrate and look for more communities in need who could work together to build a bottle school!
